Stressed Out

In this engineering design unit, students will design a method to allow students to monitor stress during self-scheduled activities. Students will learn about critical point, min/max behavior, intercepts and continuity in the context of heart rates. By using graphical knowledge, students will make decisions about their model and present their solutions to the client.

  • Core Content: Advanced Algebra, Pre-Calculus, Mathematics

  • Grade Levels: High School

  • ME Connection: Package microcontroller on micro:bit is the brain processing signals from inputs and outputs; pulse sensors connected to micro:bit uses microelectronics to collect data on human heartbeat.

  • Engineering Design Project: Design a stress intervention method using a micro:bit and pulse sensor.
