Rocket Tracking

This lesson plan introduces students to aerospace engineering careers through a video and then presents a problem where they must design a sensor for a model rocket. Students explore microelectronics, brainstorm solutions, and use a micro:bit to create their designs. They sketch their ideas, present them to the class, and refine their designs based on feedback before finalizing a solution for a model rocket company.

  • Core Content: Engineering Design

  • Grade Levels: 6-12

  • Time Required: One 60-minute class period

  • ME Career Connection: Students will see how microelectronics and sensor technology are applied to aviation and aerospace industries.
